PARK & RIDE

Melbourne's newest purpose-built Park & Ride facility opened in January, 2003, offering Victoria's highest frequency bus service.

The opening of National Bus Company's Doncaster Park & Ride near the corner of Doncaster Road and the Eastern Freeway (opposite High Street) has resulted in:

  • dramatically reduced travel times to the city for Eastern Suburbs residents using the facility;
  • hassle-free travel to the central business district;
  • less congestion on the Eastern Freeway;
  • higher service frequency; and
  • environmental and traffic-management benefits for inner-city municipalities.

There is space for 400 cars at a time and there is also a 'Kiss & Ride' area or drop-off point for people to catch frequent buses to the City.

A bus leaves the Park & Ride for the City approximately every 5 minutes during the morning peak period with a corresponding frequency passing through the Park & Ride during the afternoon/evening peak period, making it Victoria's most frequent bus service. A 15 minute off-peak and 30 minute night service also operates from the Park & Ride.
