The Beginning

National Bus Company Pty Ltd (NBC) commenced operating on December 27, 1993 having been selected as the Victorian Government's first privatised public transport provider.

From the outset, National Bus has strived to set new benchmarks in customer service, operational performance and business profitability.

This commitment is reflected in our mission statement: Provide a safe and reliable bus service which meets the needs of our customers.

Our commitment to excellence in bus services is reflected in our focus on improving bus facilities through new technology.

Some examples of systems and buses introduced are:

    Further Expansion

With the opening of the Eastern Freeway extension to Springvale Road, National Bus took the opportunity to add an extra 224 bus trips a week to services for Eastern Suburbs residents. With the continued extension of the Freeway towards Ringwood, we will be investigating ways to further expand our services.

National Bus, in conjunction with VicRoads, opened Melbourne's newest Park & Ride facility located near the corner of Doncaster Road and the Eastern Freeway in January, 2003. National Bus is continuing to work closely with VicRoads and Eastern Suburbs municipalities to identify other suitable sites for the establishment of Park & Ride facilities.
